Old Homosassa Heritage CouncilPosted on by KT Green
OHHC worked at the Homosassa Fireworks Festival on Saturday. We had raffle tickets for the golf cart and beautiful NEW t-shirts in many colors and styles. Connie Shaw, the WINNER of the Twisted Oaks Golf Round that was raffled off during the Cobia Tournament a few weeks ago stopped by to visit. She plans on winning the golf cart this year, too!
Thanks Connie for supporting the Old Homosassa Heritage Council!

The “Access to the River” committee was formed from interested members of three Homosassa community groups–The Homosassa Civic Club, The Homosassa River Alliance, and the Old Homosassa Heritage Council. The committee’s goal is to create two public parks on the Homosassa River.
In January, the committee went to the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners and their approval was unanimous.
In February, Commissioner Ron Kitchen came to our meeting to advise us on how to proceed with funding. We originally thought Amendment One money could be used for purchasing the property.
This month Florida Senator Charles Dean came to our meeting. The group did not make the list that would receive Amendment One money and he suggested we go for a DEP grant. Senator Dean said we have his full support.
Here’s some photos from the session.

At our monthly meeting last week, we decided to spend a couple hours on Saturday morning beautifying the Water Tower property. With only a few days notice, 14 energetic members show up with trimmers, pruners, and garden gloves!
And the crew in action!
$10,000! We’ll be at the Shrimpapalooza on Saturday, March 19th, with OHHC t-shirts and raffle tickets for a round of golf for 4 at Twisted Oaks Golf Course! Stop by and say Hi!
