Access to the River Committee Meeting
The “Access to the River” committee was formed from interested members of three Homosassa community groups–The Homosassa Civic Club, The Homosassa River Alliance, and the Old Homosassa Heritage Council. The committee’s goal is to create two public parks on the Homosassa River.
In January, the committee went to the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners and their approval was unanimous.
In February, Commissioner Ron Kitchen came to our meeting to advise us on how to proceed with funding. We originally thought Amendment One money could be used for purchasing the property.
This month Florida Senator Charles Dean came to our meeting. The group did not make the list that would receive Amendment One money and he suggested we go for a DEP grant. Senator Dean said we have his full support.
Here’s some photos from the session.
